Clara just asked if there has ever been a woman on the moon. And we had to tell her that there has not.

“Why?”

“Well,” her mother explained. “We went to the moon a long time ago, and back at that time, there weren’t any girl astronauts like there are now.”

Lydia, who was laying nearby, sat up and joined the conversation. “Why don’t we go now? Why did we stop?”

“Well. It’s very expensive to go to the moon.”

Lydia’s jaw dropped and she nearly fell backward off the bed. “WHAT?! That’s crazy! You have to pay the Moon just to go to it?”

So, there you go. Another day of successful homeschooling. My daughter now thinks that the Moon is just a very expensive amusement park. The world is full of mystery and wonder and we should all be very concerned.
