“Sometimes,” Clara told me from the backseat of the car, “when I meet someone new, I turn my face away from them for a second, and I try to make myself look like them. You know, my face and stuff. Then I make my face normal again and turn back around.” She smiled happily to herself and continued to watch out the window.

“Yes, Clara, that’s perfectly normal. That’s how normal people act so don’t ever stop doing that, okay? Perfect, thanks.”
