Lydia rode a horse today. She has been asking to ride a horse all summer. Her way of asking was to mention several times a day, “You know… I’ve never ridden a horse before,” and then smirk and sort of shake her head and say with a half chuckle, “and that’s good too, because I don’t think I ever would want to. That would be scary. Don’t you think Dad? Don’t you think I would think that is scary maybe. That’s probably why I’ve never ridden a horse. Because I don’t want to ride a horse.”
So, today with very little persuasion, we convinced her to ride a horse. Its name was Rosie, and she and her sister have been riding a pretend Rosie ever since.
